17 Things To Lose and Improve Your Life

One way to improve your life is to lose (and maintain) weight.  There are other ways that are deeper and more meaningful things to lose to improve your life.  In fact, many reasons that we emotionally eat are based in aspects of our lives that we don’t like, want to change but don’t, and to self-medicate ourselves from one (or all) of the things on this list.  In general, most people would rather gain than lose.  In this case, as in weight, when you lose anything on the list below, you experience huge gains as you’ve improved your life.

Just as Confucius says, you don’t have to undertake all 17 items on the list.  Even though it looks like a simple list, it isn’t.  Just by losing one of the items on the list, you will substantially improve your life.  Pick one, for example, comfort eating (aka a form of emotional eating).  Take a few moments right now and think about your life if you lost the habit of eating for comfort.  That’s just one item on the list but is a huge one that would dramatically improve your life.

  4. Destructive relationships.
  5. Criticizing yourself and others.
  6. Anger.
  7. Comfort eating.
  8. Laziness.
  9. Negative self-talk.
  10. Procrastination.
  11. Fear of success.
  12. Anything excessive.
  13. People pleasing
  14. Putting the needs of others before your own.
  15. Saying “yes” when you want to say “no”.
  16. Listening to others instead of yourself.
  17. Allowing your past to rob your life today.

If you lose any one (or more) items on this list, not only will you lose weight by decreasing emotional eating, you will feel so much better about yourself and improve your life.
