No More Excuses – Keep Your Promise
I believe one of the reasons for self-esteem is the countless promises we’ve made to ourselves regarding losing weight that haven’t happened for one reason or another. Each time I failed on a diet, I felt worse and worse about myself. I would keep focused and follow through on a promise I made to a family, friend or boss but I dropped the ball when it came to myself.
I was the master of excuses when it came to going off track and returning to old habits. I was also the master of promises as I joined Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, got my ear stapled, made gallons of the Cabbage Soup Diet, etc. None lasted very long and certainly without any long-lasting results in weight loss. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Make the promise to yourself, right now, choose once and for all to get past all of the former excuses that stopped you from achieving your weight loss goal and step into your power by saying: “This is my time, my life, I’m going to loose weight and keep it off. I am changing my habits and my lifestyle. I will not stop until I achieve my goal!”
Realizing that commitment and dedication to yourself is simply a decision that you make every day, every hour, or sometimes every minute gives you the awareness that it is a choice. It is a choice – it is your choice.
And every time you choose to honor your commitment and take a single step, you are honoring yourself and exercising your self-discipline muscle. With each step you take, that muscle will grow stronger and stronger, making it easier to bring about change in your life.
Your time is now. Make a promise to yourself that you are fully committed to reaching your weight loss goals, life goals and dreams. YOU can do it. The most precious promise of all is the one that you make to yourself.
