Schedule Your Health
Schedule your health every day. As you keep appointments and meetings on your calendar, schedule your health. There is no more important commitment than taking care of your health. Plan by eating a healthy breakfast, packing healthy snacks and lunch, and prepare a healthy dinner that you planned. Schedule your exercise as you would any other important appointment.
It is easy to get busy and preoccupied with the daily routine and things to do. What is the first thing to be put off? Taking care of ourselves. Since we’ve had surgery, we have taken control and responsibility for our health. Make taking care of your health and what you need to do with your fitness and nutrition every day a no-give.
I’m often asked when is the best time of day to exercise. The best time is when you will do it! If you are a morning person and prefer to workout to start off your day, then that is your best time to do it. For others, they prefer to wind down their day by working out at the end of the day. Regardless of what the studies and professionals say is the best time to exercise, do what is best for you and when you will regularly exercise.
The same thing for your nutrition. Some professionals believe you should eat three meals a day with nothing in between as it constitutes grazing. Others believe you should eat three meals with two snacks and others believe in six mini-meals a day. When clients ask me what they should do, I don’t buy in to what the professionals suggest. For so many years we listened to what diet programs and others told us we “should” do. I work with my clients as to what is best for them. Do they prefer to eat larger meals or have a more frequent plan of eating with smaller quantities throughout the day? Again, the right answer is what works best for you!
Look ahead and be proactive by anticipating your next day’s activities. By having a plan of your meals and exercise for the following day will help maintain your structure and build upon your success each and every day. Gather the information as to suggested dietary ways of eating and exercise but ultimately, do what works for you.
